Description

Fred Schepisi directs various members of the Douglas clan in this comedy-drama centring on the Gromberg family. Alex Gromberg (Michael Douglas) is a successful business-man who, despite being in his middle-age, still lives under the shadow of his attorney father, Mitchell (Kirk Douglas). When Mitchell suffers a debilitating stroke, he and Alex decide to try and mend their relationship, encouraged by Alex's wife Rebecca (Bernadette Peters), a psychologist, and his mother Evelyn (Diana Douglas). Meanwhile, Alex is also trying to mend his relationship with his two sons; aspiring DJ Asher (Cameron Douglas) and eleven-year-old Eli (Rory Culkin). This was the first time father and son, Kirk and Michael Douglas, had acted together.
