Description

The 2001 Division Three Play-Off Final in full, with all the post match celebrations and interviews as Blackpool, from being relegation candidates early in the season confirm their immediate return to the third tier of English football with victory at the Millennium Stadium. Steve McMahon's side were in 23rd place at one point in September and subsequently lost 7-0 to Barnet in addition to being knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league Yeovil. But steadily they climbed the table. A prolific strike partnership between John Murphy and Brett Ormerod steered them upwards, aided by the guile of Paul Simpson and the enthusiasm of Richie Wellens. In Cardiff, they were behind within the first minute, but twice the Seasiders came back to level matters before securing a 4-2 win, the first step on their accent up the league ladder.
